Automotive Metal Stamping and Machined Parts
Brackets, clips, heat shields and structural stampings with the documentation discipline an automotive programme expects.
Direct answer: we produce automotive stamped and machined parts on 25 to 200 ton presses and CNC equipment, with typical stamped tolerance of ±0.05 mm. Programmes run from 10,000 to more than 1,000,000 pieces per year. The quality system is certified to IATF 16949, and PPAP documentation, control plans and first article inspection reports are prepared where the programme requires them.
Parts we make
- Mounting brackets, reinforcement plates and clips in high strength and mild steel
- Heat shields and thermal covers in aluminium and aluminised steel
- Structural stampings with progressive dies and in-die tapping where the volume justifies it
- Busbar and terminal parts for vehicle electrical systems
- Machined inserts, spacers and housings from bar stock and castings
- Small welded assemblies combining stamped and machined parts
Process and documentation
| Programme stage | What we do | Documentation |
|---|---|---|
| RFQ and feasibility | Drawing review, tolerance and process capability check, tooling concept | Quotation with DFM notes and tooling plan |
| Tooling | Die design, build and tryout; sample parts from the production tool | Tooling drawing, tryout report, sample dimensional report |
| PPAP submission | Dimensional results, material and performance data, process documentation | PPAP package at the level agreed with your SQA |
| Serial production | In-process checks at fixed intervals, die maintenance by stroke count | Control plan, in-process records, final inspection report |
| Change management | Any material, process or tooling change is raised before it happens | Change request and re-validation record |
Materials
| Material | Typical grades | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| Mild steel | DC01, SPCC, Q235 | Brackets, covers and non-structural parts |
| High strength steel | HC340LA, HC420LA, DP600 | Structural brackets and reinforcement plates |
| Stainless steel | 304, 316L, 430 | Exhaust-adjacent and corrosion-exposed parts |
| Aluminium | 5052, 6061, 5754 | Heat shields, light brackets and housings |
| Copper alloys | C11000, C2680 | Electrical contacts, terminals and busbar |
What we ask before quoting an automotive part
- The drawing with datum scheme, tolerance class and the special characteristics marked
- Annual volume and batch size, plus the expected programme life
- The PPAP level and whether a control plan and PFMEA are required
- The surface treatment and the corrosion test the part must pass
- The traceability requirement – heat number, batch or serial marking
Frequently asked questions
Is the plant IATF 16949 certified?
Yes, the quality system is certified to IATF 16949 and to ISO 9001. Certificate copies with the registration number and expiry date are provided with the quotation on request.
What PPAP level can you support?
PPAP submissions are prepared at the level agreed with your supplier quality team, including dimensional results, material certificates, process flow, PFMEA and control plan where required. The level is fixed before tooling starts because it changes the work content.
How do you control die life and maintenance?
Die maintenance is scheduled from the running stroke count rather than from the calendar, so burr height and dimensions stay inside tolerance across the tool life. Maintenance records are kept against the tool number.
Can you handle small prototype volumes before serial tooling?
Yes. Prototypes are made by laser cutting, bending or machining from the same material and drawing, so the geometry is validated before the progressive die is cut.
Send the drawing and the PPAP level
Attach the drawing with special characteristics, the annual volume and the documentation level your programme requires.
